National Conference Banquet

Saturday June 7, 2008 will be an historic day in the AGC! We will have the privilege of honouring Bud Penner for his 8 years of ministry with us as President. We'll also be welcoming Bill Fietje as he transitions from his role as Canada East Superintendent to President, beginning July 1, 2008.

Other highlights will include;

The banquet will be held at Redeemer University College and will begin at 6:30 pm.

AGC PRAISE & WORSHIP NIGHT

We're looking forward to a fantastic evening of music, worship, praise and fellowship on Friday June 6th at Hamilton District Christian School in Ancaster, Ontario. The evening will start at 7:30 pm.

Everyone is welcome! There is no cost for the evening, however a free will offering will be taken to support AGC Church Planting.

Canada East Conference June 5, 2008

We invite all Canada East churches to the 2008 Regional Conference of AGC Canada East.

We will gather at Redeemer University College at Ancaster, Ontario on Thursday, June 5, 2008 for this year’s conference.

Registration will begin at 3:00 pm. The Conference Session will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. The National AGC Conference will follow. It begins with a Welcome BBQ at 6:30 pm. Your National Conference registration includes the Regional conference. For more information on National Conference, click here

The 2008 Canada East Regional Conference is a strategic transitional time in the leadership of our Association. We will be voting on a new Regional Superintendent, Rev. Dr. George Boyd, and giving our blessing to our current Regional Superintendent, Dr. Bill Fietje as he moves into the role of AGC President.

Introducing… Rev. Dr. George Boyd
George has been involved in pastoral ministry for over 20 years as an associate, a bi-vocational church planter, and senior pastor. He has served in the following AGC Churches:

- Peoples Church, Sarnia-Lambton, ON

- Southside Bible Church, Winnipeg, MB

- Calvary Church, Saskatoon, SK

- Grace Chapel, Oakville, ON

- Compass Point Bible Church, Burlington, ON

He completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Briercrest Schools in Saskatchewan and, more recently, a doctorate from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. George’s life-long ambition is to be a developing servant-leader who is helping others to become all that God intends them to become through Biblical preaching/teaching, words of encouragement, and an inspiring example. George and his wife Cynthia live in Burlington. They have three adult sons who have left the “nest” to pursue their academic and athletic goals.

The Canada East Council has made the following motion;

“Moved that George Boyd be approved as the candidate for Canada East Superintendent beginning July 1, 2008, to be approved by the National Board on February 18, 2008 and the Canada East Conference on June 5, 2008.”

The National Board approved this motion on February 18, 2008.

Delegates to the Canada East Conference will be asked to vote on the following;

I approve the motion to appoint Rev. Dr. George Boyd as Superintendent of Canada East beginning July 1, 2008.

We look forward to having our pastors and church delegates share in celebrating these key transitions.

Our Conference Guests…

Rev. Ian Campbell, our Conference speaker, has been in pastoral ministry for 30 years, having served congregations in Vancouver and the greater Toronto area, including 2 AGC churches, one in each region. He is currently serving as Lead Pastor at Grandview Baptist Church in Kitchener, ON.

Trevor Dick is a popular electric and acoustic violinist. His playing evokes images of Mark Wood (Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Jean Luc Ponty and Mark O’Connor all melded together. With such amazing versatility on his instruments, including the five-string electric violin, Trevor is a master at reaching any audience. We are pleased that Trevor will be presenting some special music at our Praise & Worship night on June 6, 2008, as well as joining our worship team. Trevor’s website: www.flyingbow.com

Learning Opportunities...

Our Conference will include several opportunities to learn more about AGC church planting initiatives and opportunities for your church to be involved. We are also happy to have representatives from a number of Bible schools, Mission organizations and other para-church ministries participating. Workshops will be offered on a variety of topics. We are excited that this Conference will give opportunity to not only show our appreciation for President Bud Penner and his wife Beulah as Bud completes his term as President, but to also welcome Dr. Bill Fietje and his wife Lois as Bill is installed as AGC President beginning July 1, 2008. There will be a special banquet honouring both couples on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Redeemer. If you wish to purchase additional banquet tickets, they are available for $30 each.
