“Lending a Hand” for Haiti

Our prayers and hopes are still focusing on Haiti and we want to give an update:

Phase 1... We have so many reports of our AGC churches in Canada sending tens of thousands of dollars to the immediate relief and care of Haiti. Much of this has gone through World Relief and you can go to their website to get news of what is happening in Haiti. The world has responded to the immediate needs of Haiti's people and we thank God for this.  Another good link for information is through the Integral Alliance

Earthquake damage 2 Phase 2... As we had said earlier we are in the planning stage of the AGC Phase 2 "Lending a Hand" project to school damagehelp rebuild Haiti. Our focus is on the AGC of Haiti churches and surrounding communities. This week Pastor Robert Pyram the President of AGC Haiti spoke to us about his assessments and reports of the damage done to AGC Haiti churches and schools. It is substantial.  The pictures show the damage to one of the churches, as well as the church meeting outdoor for a worship service.  This church also had a school, which was destroyed.

In addition I have been speaking to potential International Partners to see how best we can channel AGC Canada funds and work teams to help in the rebuilding. These potential Partners include World Vision, World Outdoor service 2Relief, CrossWorld and others. The difficulty is that there does need to be a master plan and we need to find a way to fit into it so that the money and work has maximum effect. Please continue to pray and to collect funds.  Already several Canadian AGC churches have dedicated many tens of thousands of dollars to the Phase 2 rebuilding plan. We are awed by the goodness and generosity of God's people. This will be a slow and at times painful process as we help our sisters and brothers rebuild.

We have heard about two W5 programs featuring Dr John Yates of International Child Care. One of our AGC Phase 2 Task Team is Wes Romulus who has a great heart for ICC. This 2 part video clip is the best I have seen to get a feel of what has happened and what needs to be done. Dr John Yates is the eldest son of former Earthquake damagemedical missionaries that I had the privilege of serving as their pastor in Cambridge Ontario.

If you have any questions please contact the National office.

Blessings
