We are pleased to announce a new addition to the AGC website - a "Pastoral Resources" section. Wondering about the latest books? Trying to find good web resources? Found a great resource that you'd like to share with other pastors? All of this and more will be posted in this section. Werner Peters of Westmount Park Church in Etobicoke, Ontario has graciously offered to manage this section and will be making regular posts. You can find the first entry here. We are working to add this to the menu at the top of the website homepage, but until then, you can access the blog by clicking on "Pastoral Resources" above.

The AGC Prayer Guide for April 2008 / GUIDE DE PRIÈRES avril 2008 has been posted. Please read the update below from President Bud Penner: The Lord spoke to me this past week through a variety of sources all on the same topic. At a time when there are endless excellent things that call me to them, God seemed to say to me these words of Jesus in the context of speaking to religious professional doers such as myself. “You have neglected the more important matters of the law, - justice, mercy and faithfulness.” Matthew 23:23. I had listened to a message on “Priorities”, read two articles on the “Kingdom of God” and “Transformation”. All were saying don’t lose sight of God, the poor, and the ordinary people of this world. I thank God that He keep...

I trust you are “weathering well”. Everything seems to be more “extreme” this winter. But as good Canadians, winter brings out what we are really made of. When you receive this update the Regional Councils and the Quebec Committee, and likely the AGC National Board, will all have met. It is the beginning of many “final” meetings for me in the AGC. It has been a good journey! Canada West Jim Houston continues his exhausting pace of covering the four western provinces whether it is to encourage Pastors, help resolve differences in a church, or to encourage Pastors and Churches to move forward in their communities. Churches without pastors are fewer. Several are at various stages of finding and calling pastors. Two churches in Alberta, Wetaskiwin and Provost, are building new facilities. Canada East Under the chairmanship of Pastor Wayne Foster, a search committee has settled on a new Superintendent to be presented to the Region in June a...

The January update from President Bud Penner is below. The Prayer Guide for February 2008 / Guide de Prières février 2008 is available for download. I was encouraged from Psalm 5:3, “In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” I’m amazed at how much a person can get accomplished in the first 3 hours after getting up. Studies show that most people are more productive in the first 3 hours of their job than the remaining 5 in an 8 hour a day job. This verse reinforces my desire to “lay my requests before the Lord and wait in expectation” each morning. God is fully functional 24/7, but He knows we might not be and therefore invites us to start our prayer life early in the day. Motivational Opportuni...

The Christmas season in the church opens many doors to the community, especially to those who have some Christian background, or who want to establish some memories that are positive around the holidays. In conversing with some Sikh families, they asked if they could celebrate Christmas with us this year. They perceived that Christmas is a festival of joy that they want their children to experience and participate in. Insidedge December 2007 Each church has been sent a quantity of this newsletter to distribute to their congregation, but you can also download it by clicking on the title above. This winter feature shares the excitement of ministry in Quebec, Denise DeGraaf’s walk to raise funds for impoverished children in Africa, etc. Christmas Gifts for Pastors Each pastor will be receiving one of the following two books; “Acts 29” is written by Chris Kovac and is ...

A message from President Bud Penner;
I trust you had a great summer with some R&R, quality family time, and some good ministry results. I’ve appreciated my involvement with a number of churches over the summer, with varied reports of blessing and challenge. Going into September for most churches in Canada is a “new ministry year” even though many people don’t settle back into the church until after Thanksgiving. Recruiting and training workers happens last minute and training generally is “on the job.” Not ideal, but by God’s grace and the work of the Holy Spirit God blesses. Please pray for the following upcoming key me...

The following announcement is from AGC Moderator, Rev. Dave Collins on behalf of the AGC National Board;
We have recently completed the Canada West and Canada East Conferences, during which a segment of each was devoted to AGC National Business. The main agenda item was a vote to affirm the AGC National Board recommendation that Rev. Dr. Bill Fietje be appointed President of the AGC effective July 1, 2008. This vote passed with a 98% majority. This is a marvellous endorsement of Bill for this position. We believe he is the right person for the future of the AGC in the years to come.
