Looking for: Worship Ministry Summer Intern

Location:

King Bible Church www.kingbiblechurch.com

1555 King Rd.

King City, ON

905-833-5104

Proposed Scope of Work

The intern’s work term would be from Sunday June 15th to September 7th 2008. The work term would be a total of 12 weeks. The first few weeks of the work term in June will allow sufficient time for overlap with the current worship leaders for training purposes before the traditional summer time period starts. The work term is considered a part-time responsibility. The number of hours required to fulfill the duties assigned are approximately 15 hours. Duties and attendance during Sunday worship services and rehearsals is included in the 15 hours per week total which should still allow sufficient time for the following worship ministry responsibilities.

Responsibilities

The worship ministry intern would be responsible for the following:

  1. Arrange the schedule for the summer months June 15th through to September 7th 2008 or thereabouts. This includes organizing the weekly line-up of vocalists, instrumentalists, and A/V personnel from the available list of worship ministry volunteers.
  2. Select appropriate worship music for the week. The selections of music should be diverse and feature a mixture of both traditional hymns and contemporary songs and choruses. The worship song selection will take into consideration the unique giftedness of the worship ministry volunteers so as to add variety to the line-up each week.
  3. Lead worship and perform (sing and/or play) along with the worship team each Sunday during the morning worship service.
  4. Take responsibility for the summer rehearsal sessions which will take place each Sunday morning @ 8:30 am.
  5. Generate and distribute the Order of Service to the KBC staff, worship team members, A/V team members.

Other

This position would ideally be filled by an evangelical Christian with giftedness for worship/music ministry. The successful candidate will exemplify good Christian character and be able to lead through active participation.

The worship ministry summer intern will be financially compensated for this work at the rate of $10.00 / hr. for each 15 hour work week. A candidate with established leadership experience in this area could earn somewhat more.

It is understood that the worship ministry summer intern will be able to accomplish a certain portion of their responsibilities working offsite. It is not necessary to be at the King Bible Church building for the total 15 hrs / wk commitment. A desk and office space will be provided at the King Bible Church facility for the worship ministry summer intern’s use.

The successful candidate should be able to arrange their own transportation to and from the King Bible Church facility as required. The successful candidate will already have first-hand experience leading corporate (public) worship in a music context and be skilled in vocal performance, plus have a strong instrumental background leading worship instrumentally using either keyboards or guitar. The successful candidate will be strongly self-motivated to perform the weekly duties of worship and music ministry leader with minimal supervision and lead a volunteer group to bring a spiritually meaningful, professional, and impactful worship ministry to the congregation at King Bible Church. Please provide a current resume. References will be requested.
