Looking for:  Associate Pastor for Mississauga congregation

The Mississauga campus of Chinese Gospel Church Toronto is looking for an Associate Pastor.  Interested candidates may send a resume to:

The primary responsibilities of the Associate Pastor in order of priority:

a) pastoral care of whole congregation;

  • - visit the whole congregation within 6 months
  • - extend pastoral visits to visitors
  • - provide pastoral care and counseling to those in need in the congregation

b) preaching and teaching;

  • - preach 50% to 75% of Sunday sermons per month and be in charge of the preaching schedule
  • - teach/co-teach a Sunday school class

c) development of our English congregation;

  • - work towards 'weekly' English worship

d) leadership training;

  • - mentor core youth leaders

e) leading outreach

  • - lead the seekers in the congregation to Christ

f) providing guidance to the board and all ministries in the congregation

  • - participate monthly in board meetings, planning meetings (as required), CGC council meetings and special joint meetings (e.g., Prayer and Fast meetings, Missions Conference)

g) participating in all weekly prayer meetings, family fellowship and youth fellowship

h) co-working with other CGC pastors and personal enrichment time

  • 1996 – June we started
  • 1998 – September Pastor Kim C Tung resigned.
  • 1999 – October Rev. Joseph K P Wong joined.
  • 2002 – December moving into 5750 Timberlea
  • 2005 – May Rev. Joseph K P Wong resigned.
  • 2006 – June Rev. Albert B S Lee joined.
  • 2008 – December Rev. Albert B S Lee’s term finished.

Strategy for the next 1-5 years:

  • Nurturing our next generation to carry on the baton.
  • Envision the whole congregation to reach out to the unsaved.
  • Move to a more visible and accessible location with 3 congregations (English, Cantonese and Mandarin) established and co-working together.
  • Starting a mandarin ministry:
    • Start bi-monthly Mandarin worship; progress to monthly and weekly.
    • Start a home Bible Study group with a dedicated team.
  • Bridging the gap among the Cantonese families, e.g., starting a young couples’ group
