The Grassy Plains Gospel Church is looking for the man of God who would be led to a full time position serving God in our Church and community. The church is looking for a discerning man who would sense the leading of the Holy Spirit to Pastor in a rural community, about thirty miles from the nearest town.

Mission Statement: “Our purpose is to worship God; to honour one another in our fellowship and worship; to unite as followers of Jesus, that we may be light in this community.”

be credentialed for ministry with the Associated Gospel Churches

Some Further Details

The local community consists of ranches and smaller rural properties with the general population being spread out over quite a large area of hundreds of miles. Many families have been in the area for at least two generations; however there has also been a recent shift in the population, where numerous new families have moved into the area from other provinces. There are a large number of people who are of European or American descent and therefore we often have visiting residents that may attend the church or participate in the community for short periods of time. Many people work away, either doing camp work since the logging has declined in the area, or working out at mines. Some travel to nearby Burns Lake for work.

Our rural area hosts three small restaurants/stores, as well as a camping resort. There are two schools, one public school as well as a Mennonite school, and a few families who home school as well. There are many lakes around and fishing is a big pastime, with tourists visiting the area and often those who will attend the church services while they are visiting. We also have three local gathering Halls where numerous social activities are hosted throughout the year. This community is also very community minded however individuals are quite independent and self sufficient. It is often said that “you’ve got to be tough to live on the South Side.” Some of the local area has smaller communities within the larger community, but many neighbors may live quite a distance from each other.

The Grassy Plains Church currently has 40+ people in the congregation who attend regularly with seventeen registered members. The majority of the congregation is made up of mid age to senior persons with a smaller group of younger individuals or families. Some of our members are foster parents and so we have also had a small group of teens attending. Other churches in the vicinity consist of a large Mormon church, a small Catholic church, the Mennonite church and the Wisteria church which is also an evangelical church body. People from all of the churches get along well although they don’t work together as church bodies.

Peoples Church of Montreal is searching for a Pastor of Youth Ministries to oversee its young professionals, college, university and high school ministries. The Pastor of Youth Ministries will be a leader -- teaching, mentoring and discipling teens to young professionals. Through this ministry, he will bring the gospel message to the young people of Montreal.
Since 1938, Peoples Church has served the Montreal region with solid bible teaching. On any given Sunday, about 500 people gather to worship from over 40 different nations. Peoples Church has a vibrant youth ministry with its location in the heart of downtown Montreal opposite McGill University.

The candidate must:

Display leadership qualities.
Show potential to relate to, mentor and disciple young people from teenagers to young professionals.
Show ability to teach and be a good communicator.

We are searching for a Worship Arts Pastor/Director (WAP), a musician who is also a pastor, a leader, and an artist. As an artist, the WAP will draw other artists, nurture them, and develop them into a worship-arts community.

Qualifications/Paradigms: The person we are seeking…

is a passionate disciple of Jesus, with a pattern of growth and maturity in Christ.
is relationally warm and engaging.
is reflective, and not into cheesy, smarmy, clichéd Christianese.
has some experience balancing various life roles (e.g., spouse, parent, minister, etc.)
is a leader - someone with some vision, passion, and determination
appreciates the depths and richness of our historic hymnody, but acknowledges that much is also theologically lame and unsuitable for corporate worship.
appreciates the renaissance within contemporary Christian music; attempts to recapture well-written, passionate, and doctrinally-rich music.
appreciates the best of what's new - from within mainstream CCM movement, and the indie artists who are mining the depths of Scripture.
is an artist - someone who can weave various images, sounds, media, elements, etc, together into a beautiful, compelling worship event.
has a pastoral / shepherding gift, able to respond to needs among the people, and feel a pastoral ownership of the congregation that non-pastors don't, which will help guide worship choices and direction.
need not be a tremendous communicator; articulate, but not necessarily a preacher; passion will speak louder than spoken transitions.
need not be a tremendous administrator.

The person is probably not:

a student in seminary / Bible college right now;
doing post-secondary studies that are unrelated to this field;
going to raise strong objections to the AGC's articles / policies.

However, there are some basics that will continue from the current pattern:

We have two Sunday morning worship services, an early contemporary service and a later more blended/traditional service.
The WAP will be responsible for planning the worship/arts content of both services.
The WAP will report to the Senior Pastor.
The WAP will report to the Board monthly, through written updates given to the Senior Pastor.

Additional information…

Expectations are that this will be a full-time position. We may find just the right person who is not yet able to commit full-time hours to the role, but could transition into those hours over time. The role as described will eventually require such time investments.
Our congregation is in downtown Hamilton, part of the city core. We are located across the street from Copps Coliseum, the largest sports and entertainment facility in the region.
Congregational size and mix: our attendance in two worship services typically totals three to four hundred adults plus children. The contemporary service covers a broad age spectrum, average age being under 35. The blended service has a narrower age spectrum, average age being over 65. Each week, believers gather for worship with us from every continent, and more than 50 countries. We are delighted to be a multi-ethnic community.
Brief history of Philpott Church: Peter W. Philpott sent a trained leader to plant the Hamilton Gospel Tabernacle in 1892. Four years later, Philpott himself came to lead the work. From this base, he sent out other trained pastoral leaders to launch groups around the Golden Horseshoe. The Associated Gospel Churches were “associated” after his departure for Moody Memorial Church in Chicago, though Philpott’s leadership resulted in the several congregations that formed the group. The Hamilton Gospel Tabernacle was renamed Philpott Memorial Church in 1956, shortly after the death of Mr. Philpott. The phrase “A Community of Grace” became an informal subtitle of the church in the early 2000’s as it became an accurate description of the congregation. We typically have 150 attend the second service at 11:15, which is blended in style. We typically have 200 (with another 35-50 children in their various classes, simultaneously) in the first service at 9:30, which is more contemporary in style.

King Bible Church is part of the growing community of King City Ontario and is looking to fill a part time Worship Director position. King Bible Church is part of the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada, and is made up of a mixture of ages with the majority of our church family being families with younger kids. KBC is a smaller congregation (avg. 90-110 on Sundays) in a quickly growing community with a focus on internal spiritual development as well as outward community involvement and outreach; our leadership believes that significant growth is just around the corner.

Worship Ministry Director:

Our desire is to hire a part time worship ministry director (10-15 hr/week) to help us bring consistency and excellence to our worship ministry and Sunday Service. At present are worship would be considered mixed (hymns, choruses, contemporary worship music) with a full band, and we as a church are looking at contemporize our services while still being considerate of our smaller group of seniors with a specific focus on powerful/inspiring music and the further development in use of multimedia resources.

Position Responsibilities:

Develop and schedule all Sunday Worship Service (in conjunction with the Sr. Pastor)
Be the primary worship leader for the Sunday Services
Lead the weekly worship team practice
Continued development of our worship team (musicians/vocalists)
Recruitment of new worship team members
Continued development and implementation of new worship resources (music, multimedia, etc.)
Other tasks as assigned
