Why Did Jesus Come?

Posted by donna on November 30, 2012

Here it is December.  Where does the year go?  What eternal difference did we make in 2012? Did we share our faith in silent and in loud ways?

There is likely no greater time in all the year when we as believers in Christ have massive opportunities to share our faith.

Under Construction - Part 3

Posted by donna on November 1, 2012

1 Peter 3:14, 15 "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.” But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this in gentleness and respect,"

The apostle Peter was encouraging the new believers 2000 years ago to live lives that are so "hope filled" that people watching us will be moved to ask about the hope that is inside of us.

Out of the Vortex

Dale_Snyder_book.jpgDale Snyder, a retired AGC Pastor, has written of God's touch upon the Kayapo Indians in the heart of the Amazon.  Being the first-ever person among them has made the encounter even more electrifying!  Dale and his wife Mary and family were in that particular village 10 years; they were in Brazil some 20 years in all.

Because missions and church planting have always been at the forefront of his life, Dale has committed to making this offer: for every book sold, he will donate $5 of the proceeds to AGC Church Planting!

Reconstructing Evangelism

Posted by donna on October 2, 2012

One of the key reasons why evangelical churches today do not see as many "conversions" as in the past is because of how we define “conversion”. Today this concept of "conversion" is in a state of challenge and is under construction!

On a return flight from North Carolina I had a two hour discussion with a 30-something computer analyst from Iran. We began by recounting the great history of the Persian Empire and then moved on to discuss the intersection of Jewish and Muslim worldviews and beliefs. We ended with the similarities between Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Later we discussed the key aspects of life and death and why Christ is the key to having a new intimate life with God.

Heaven and Hell

Posted by donna on June 12, 2012

The whole topic and issue of hell, heaven and eternal punishment and reward has gone from the class room to the pew. It is once more a pressing issue and frankly confusing to many believers in Canada.

Books like Rob Bell’s “Love Wins” and Francis Chan’s “Erasing Hell” and endless blogs and panels about these books have brought this important theological issue front and center. Even Time Magazine has entered into the discussion. Having read these books and a fair number of blogs and articles on this topic, I felt it was time to weigh in.
