Alberta Floods

Posted by donna on July 22, 2013

A number of our AGC churches were affected by the recent flooding in Alberta.  Here is a report from one of our pastors...

SOUTHERN ALBERTA FLOOD

The Black Diamond/Turner Valley Story

At 6:45 am on Thursday, June 20th/2013, our family was given 2 minutes to evacuate our home.  The flood waters were pressing up against our house and we barely were able to drive our van out of the driveway of our Black Diamond home.  Two days later we were allowed back on our street and to our home to see that we had 4 feet of water in our basement.  That was the common story among so many of us in our area of the province.

Be a Life-Long Learner

The AGC has a core value of lifelong learning. Through our Church Health and Leadership Commission we aim to encourage, challenge and resource every leader to keep growing.

Origins__Redemption.jpgIn Origins and Redemption, Dr. Frank Humphrey discusses the creation-evolution issue across a wide range of scientific disciplines. Each area is well-researched and extensive references enable the reader to pursue additional research in areas of particular interest.

After all this, he applies the same analytic rigour to the historicity of the resurrection and, therefore, to our redemption that is found in Jesus Christ.

God's Faithfulness to the Rock

The_Rock_members_June_2013.jpgOn June 23rd, the Rock Community Church in Woodstock, Ontario welcomed its first sixty members to membership.  This was a monumental event in the Rock’s history, since five years ago, the Rock was a church restart with a dozen people in attendance.  We are tremendously thankful to God and for His work through the AGC’s Church Planting Commission which has faithfully supported our ministry of preaching the Gospel faithfully and making disciples of Jesus in this community in Woodstock.

President's Update - Biblical Authority

As we look more closely at our AGC Core Values, I want to highlight biblical authority.

DÉCLARATION DE FOI 2013

The additional By-law revisions were passed with 95% in favour.

We praise God for his leading in our Association, and are grateful to the many people who worked toward this outcome, and the delegates who set aside the time to participate in our National Conference.

necessary_christian_full_cover.jpgThe Necessary Christian discusses the perceived shortcomings and shortsightedness of the worldwide Church of Jesus Christ (which is, to a certain degree, the reality). It points to the Church’s frequent failures to present a relevant, righteous alternative to an ever-darkening planet of people in desperate search of answers and hope.

AGC Values - Loving Relationships

Posted by donna on May 3, 2013

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I loved you, that you also may love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples if you have love one for another." (John 13: 34, 35 NASV)

Since Vision is the destination of our journey and values are the tracks we ride on, I want to take several months to highlight our AGC Values.

Loving relationships refer primarily to our capacity to engage people into our lives.  Do we readily allow new people into our lives or do we subconsciously send the rejection message?
