Bill's Blog: Summer Rest

Posted by donna on August 2, 2016

summer rest.jpgHow has your summer been unfolding?  Were you able to get away? Are you taking time to refresh, refocus and relax or are you just fooling yourself by thinking you don’t need it?

I struggled with this issue when Lois and I were overseas.  I remember a saying that was around back then that went something like this … “we need to come a-part before we come apart!” Kind of cheesy you might think, but there’s a lot of truth imbedded in it.

Bill's Blog: RUN THE RACE!

We are one month away from our AGC National Conference Run the race_colour .png (June 2-4, 2016hosted this year by our AGC church in beautiful Banff, Alberta. Our theme is "Run the Race" and our guest speaker is Tim Schroeder, well known across Canada for his writings and speaking. Tim is a marathon runner and we are looking forward to seeing how he will unfold the theme “running with endurance the race set before us.

At times, we may focus only on how to run our best. We easily cheer on those who seem to run well and, by contrast, quietly encourage and at times, even chide those who run with halting steps, those who fear they are not keeping up.

In the Christian race, how do we balance man's responsibility with that of the overwhelming power and persevering work of the Holy Spirit at work in us? How do we balance these issues in a society that rewards excellence more than endurance?

Bill's Blog: "Still I Will Follow"

Capture.PNG"Lord, (Peter said) to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." John 6:68

Last month I shared with you the cost of being a true believer by telling the story of St. Alban, set in an ancient context. This month, I want to continue the theme of standing boldly for Jesus in a pagan society in a more modern setting.  The following story was given to me by a dear friend.   I will share it (with a few adjustments.)

Welcome Faith Gospel Fellowship!

Fort Vermilion Apr 2016 1.jpgOn Sunday April 3, the AGC was pleased to welcome Faith Gospel Fellowship of Fort Vermilion, AB into our family of churches!

AGC Superintendent Russ Wilson and One Hope Canada Executive Director Bill McCaskell were on hand to participate in this time of celebration.

Capture.PNGWe do all we can to be a movement of healthy reproducing churches across Canada.   Where does health come from? We all know it is not found in programs and budgets. We know it is found through the power of the Lord. The power is in the gospel which is able to transform lives. Yet, seemingly we see so little real transformational life in the church today. I hope it is coming; but it is not fully evident just yet.
