AGC Values - Loving Relationships
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I loved you, that you also may love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples if you have love one for another." (John 13: 34, 35 NASV)
Since Vision is the destination of our journey and values are the tracks we ride on, I want to take several months to highlight our AGC Values.
Loving relationships refer primarily to our capacity to engage people into our lives. Do we readily allow new people into our lives or do we subconsciously send the rejection message?
The AGC uses an assessment tool called Natural Church Development (NCD). This tool, developed by Christian A. Schwarz and Christoph Schalk, is used worldwide to help a church measure their overall health. Part of this process is to determine how well they are doing at loving each other. This may be better understood by asking the question, : “how well is the church equipped to have open honest, engaging relationships of Christ-like love toward each other?” Schwarz says that this quality of loving relationships is "the one quality where most churches vastly overestimate their strength." (Natural Church Development Implementation Guide pg. 116)
To build these relationships, churches, or an organization like the AGC, must provide ways and means for people to get together in social settings where we actually do get to know each other. One of the ways we have of doing this is through meeting together at our annual AGC Conferences.
AGC Canada East Region will meet at our Fair Havens Conference Center, Beaverton, Ontario from June 3 to 5th for re:connect , while the AGC Canada West Region will hold their Regional Conference at Wetaskiwin, Alberta from June 6 to 9th.
I will see you all there this June and we can together build relationships of Christ-like love and encouragement.
