New AGC Church Plant - Countryside Community Church!

Posted by donna on November 4, 2014

Willis.PNGWe are excited to introduce the AGC family to Countryside Community Church in Oro-Medonte, Ontario!  On Thanksgiving Sunday, Oct 12th, their first service was held at Willis Presbyterian Church.

About a year ago, God began placing a burden on the hearts of several people to plant a church in Oro-- Medonte. Oro--Medonte is a rural township of about 22,000 people with very little in the way of an evangelical presence, and so the need was real.

Those people began sharing their God--given desire to start a church with other Christian families and before long there were about eight core families who were dedicated to this work. Beyond that, there were many others who confirmed the need and expressed interest, both from inside and outside the Church. This past summer the core families began looking for a pastor to recruit and on October 1st, Josh Davy joined them as their planting pastor, and Countryside joined the Associated Gospel Churches.   Josh shares the mission of Countryside Community Church:

We’ll be a church that’s very focused on fulfilling the Great Commission and the Great Commandment. We’re determined to see Countryside integrated into the fabric of our community, and to bring the Gospel of Christ to them. We’re also determined to be a very authentic group of people who find unity in the person of Christ, the adoption of his mission, and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.

We want to be a church where people throw off their masks – a group of real people who encounter the only real God, and who form a real church. If by God’s grace we’re successful in this endeavor, we’re confident that Countryside will be a place of uncommon community that points to the reality of Christ (have a look at John 17).

Please pray for this young church!  If you would like to be part of their ongoing prayer team, and receive regular updates, please email the AGC office.
