Russ Wilson approved as next Canada West Superintendent!
The Associated Gospel Churches is pleased to announce that Rev. Russ Wilson has been approved as our next Canada West Superintendent! The Canada West Region voted overwhelmingly in favour of appointing Russ at last weeks' Canada West Conference in Melfort, SK.
In the excitement of welcoming Russ, we also say a very fond but sad farewell to outgoing Superintendent Jim Houston, who has served so diligently over the last 12 years. Thank you Jim for your heart to serve, and for the many practical ways you have shown your love for the Lord and His people.
It is expected that this leadership transition will take place during the month of July this year.
Russ has been the Lead Pastor of Cornerstone Church in Saskatoon for the past 6 plus years overseeing a growing staff and a thriving church. Previous to this he was the Lead Pastor at the Terrace Evangelical Free Church in Terrace, British Columbia.
Prior to that Russ and his wife Sue were involved with two ministries within the AGC. They spent 10 years church planting in Canmore and almost 4 years in Maryfield, Saskatchewan.
This year Russ and Sue will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary. They are blessed with three children, Noah married to Jennifer (Kaylie 12, Liliana, 6 and Preston almost 3) living in Saskatoon; Laura-Mae married to Byron (expecting their first child) residing in Kelowna; and Tali, their youngest, who also lives in Saskatoon.
What a pleasant surprise to see your name as the Canada West Superintendent. I am not sure if you remember me, but I am the son of Wes Moore and nephew of Ken and Vernon Moore from the AGC church in Maryfield.
I was the Associate Pastor at New Life Baptist in Stonewall, MB for a few years before leaving for France with my wife as a Greater Europe Mission missionary in 1986 where we ministered for 18 years. I am now back in Canada since 2004 as the Executive Director of GEM in Canada, based in Oshawa, Ontario. I am a member and actively involved at Carruthers Creek Community Church, a AGC church in Ajax, ON.
I do hope at some point in the future that we will be able to connect again.
God's richest blessings on your new responsibilities.
