Take Time to Relax
We have just returned from a wonderful time of fellowship and worship at our biennial AGC National Conference, 2014. Our Conference was held at Fanshawe College in beautiful London, Ontario. It was hosted by our London Area Pastors, led by Rev. John Thompson of Forest City Bible Church. I wish to thank all who graciously gave of their time and talents, from our planning committee to our worship team, our workshop speakers and our volunteers. Our guest speaker was Dr. Rick Reed (Linda). Rick blessed and encouraged us through his exposition on the life of Jeremiah. God through His Spirit was in our midst and we give Him all the glory.
Dr. Charles Price (Hilary), who had been slated to be our guest speaker, was taken to hospital days before our Conference was to begin. We continue to pray for the Price family as Charles seeks rest and recovery this summer. We are grateful to God that Rick was able to come on short notice. God worked all things together for good.
2014 was unique in that we were able to introduce three new National staff members. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce them to you.
- James Herzog, our new Executive Director at Fair Havens Ministries in Beaverton Ontario, and his wife Elizabeth have three young children. He has a background as a CA as well as having a keen interest in music and preaching. James is a tremendous fit to lead our excellent staff at Fair Havens.
- Dr. Laird Crump is our new Regional Superintendent for Canada East. Laird and Joey are no strangers to the AGC. They have 4 children and one little grandson. Laird has pastored three AGC churches, as well as helped run many leadership camps. His last eight years of experience at Focus on the Family will be instrumental for building strong relationships between pastors and churches in the East.
- Rev. Russell Wilson is our new Regional Superintendent for Canada West. Russ and Susan have pastored two AGC churches in the West. They have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. For the last eight years Russ has been the Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Bible Church in Saskatoon, SK.
This has been an exciting first half of 2014. For many of us, summer is a welcome time to slow the pace. Let's remember to rest in the presence of our Lord as we take time for our families and ourselves.
“Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10
Blessings as you pray and take time to relax,
